Crocheted Toddler Hat Tutorial

These are really cute little toddler hats suitable for age 1 to 2 years. You can add peeks or flowers, buttons etc.
I used two different colours of double knit wool together as I like the effect this gives. I used a 4.5mm hook.
Do not join the rounds, just continue the swirl but make sure you use a stitch marker to mark your rounds.

* Start with a "magic ring". SC 6 into center (6)
* HDC 2 in each stitch (12)
* HDC 2 in each st around  (24)
* {1 HDC, HDC 2 in next stitch} x12 (36)
* {1 HDC in next 2 stitches ,  HDC 2 in 3rd stitch} x12 (48)
* {1 HDC in next 3 stitches ,  HDC 2 in 4th stitch} x12 (60)
* HDC 1 in each stitch until you get the desired size / shape
(approx 12 to 15 more rounds)

The pattern for the flower I have added to the top hat can be found here. Thanks to mycrochetstuff.

Hope this is useful.

Walking in a winter wonderland.

Ok. We did not have a white Christmas. In fact we had a very mild December.
My Geraniums were still out on Christmas day!
But this did mean the opportunity for great winter walks in the New Forest.

The Tall Trees Trail.
These two Redwoods were planted in 1859 & are the tallest trees in the forest.

Bolderwood. Lovely walk. Details here.

Winter Warmers

I love hand made gifts. All the more if they have been made by the giver. I appreciate the time & thought put into the gift.
This Christmas I wanted to give hand made gifts, that were easy, if not quick, to make.
So I came upon the idea of crocheting hot water bottle covers.

My first attempt was very "Rustic."
(My word for a little shabby
& obviously home made!)

After working out the glitches I came up with a pattern that I could duplicate. Each cover took about 4 hours to crochet, adding extra time for decorating.

I used ribbon & buttons accessorise the covers & added the recipients initial.
Yes: most of them went people whose name began with J!

Merry Christmas
& a Happy
New Year!

Apologies on the late posting of this post. This was due to a virus on my memory card.
